My first drive in a Rolls-Royce

I won’t lie to you, those of us in the motoring media are a bunch of lucky sods. We get to drive some incredible machines, and I’m not sure machines get any more incredible than a Rolls-Royce.

Lucky me had the chance to take out the Rolls-Royce Wraith, a two and a half ton rear-hinged two door coupe powered by a gigantic 6.6-litre 624bhp twin-turbo V12. Let me tell you, it was quite an experience.

Base price for one of these beauties is a few quid shy of £230,000. I didn’t ask about option costs - and I suspect the customers probably don’t either - so I’m assuming your Rolls-Royce Wraith would come in comfortably over the quarter of a million quid mark.

As a side note, later on this week I’ll be on the Honda Civic Type R launch, we’ll be taking it on track and on a road route in Bratislava, Slovakia. The circuit we’re on is the Slovakiaring, so if there’s anything you’d like to know about the crazy new Type R let me know. I’m also planning to do some of this Periscope thing while I’m out there, so keep an eye on my twitter if you’re interested in watching me trying to talk and film at the same time.

This might be my favorite body style taht is still on sale. A two door personal luxury coupe. The massive engine means it will never be slow and the luxurious interior means you will always be comfortable

Pretty cool! It’s pretty great getting the chance to drive cars like these. I was lucky enough to drive a Mercedes-Maybach this past week and couldn’t believe how smooth and quiet it was. It was a whole new league of comfort. I’d imagine a Rolls is a similar experience.

Nice one! I’ve not been near a Maybach yet, but if it can match a Rolls in terms of feeling like a four-wheeled deity I’ll be surprised. I look forward to finding out in the future though! It’s truly remarkable just how special these machines are.

From the outside, the Maybach can’t touch the Rolls, but from the inside, it’s amazing. What makes the Maybach special is really the way it drives, or should I say ride. Magic Body Control really is magic.
